Some months ago my friend Eleena of Voices en Español e-mailed me about her new website ReVerbSpanish.com. I had a quick look it at (note: at that time the site was very new and didn’t contain many materials) and didn’t like it. Instead of writing a post about it anyway I told Eleena what I thought and decided to not pass on the link to you guys.
But then I started thinking; “Who am I to decide what’s best for my readers and what’s not?“. Also, I didn’t feel all too good about how I put it that I didn’t like it. But I still didn’t write a post about it and forgot the situation.
But a few days back I decided to have a look at the website again. Yes, I’m not a fan of grammar study but in the meanwhile I’ve been in some situations that I did want to check why some things are the way they are in Spanish. For that I used a Spanish source, but I’m aware that some people don’t understand formal or technical Spanish yet and therefore need an English source to check some things.
And that English source can very well be ReVerb Spanish. Eleena has really put in some work to provide clear explanations and a nice feature is that she offers each article in the form of a podcast as well. Now, personally I can’t learn out of context (just like most people), but even that is taken care of. Each explanation is sweet and short, but has several example sentences to help you.
All in all I like this site a lot better now (although I’d like to see more content than there is now) and is something the intermediate learner can really help to understand certain structures better. But beware; don’t become a grammar-obsessed freak!
