In December, reader Cesar sent me a pretty big list of meanings of the word mierda. But, the list was in Spanish and not everyone speaks Spanish to that level. Therefore, I translated the stuff and added some notes for the learners out there that want to use some vulgar words but aren’t fully fluent yet. This is part 1 of the translation.
* Used
** Used, but not that much
- Insult
* ¡Se hizo mierda!
They did shit!
- ¡Es una mierda!
It’s a f*cking mess!
* ¿Que mierda pasó?
What the hell happened?
* ¿Sólo esa mierda?
Only that shit (stuff)?
* ¿Esa mierdita?
That shit? (that’s not much!)
* ¡No quedó ni mierda!
Nothing was left (after the disaster)!
* ¡Qué mierdero!
What a mess!
* ¡Vamos a hacer esa mierda!
We’re going to do that shit!
Found errors in the translations (always possible)? Please say so, so that I can correct it!

This was one of those words I picked up not from my Spanish class, but my Spanish friends back in high school. It turned out to be a frequently used word (at least from my Spanish friends). But I only know how to use it in its 'most pure' singleton form.
- ¡Come mierda! – Yes, it translates to “You eat crap!”. But it is a phrase directed to those who think they are better than anybody else, prissy, arrogant. For example…
Lady: I'll tell my nanny to use the porta-potty outside.
Me: ¡Qué come mierda eres!
Spanish is a passionate language, indeed!
Hm, the explanation I got was directed towards food, but I deleted it from the post just to be sure. Thanks for the explanation though
