Spanish on Twitter

Twitter, the micro-blogging platform, is getting more and more popular each and every day. And why wouldn’t it? There are countless applications for mobile phones, third-party websites to add functions to it and above all; it’s simple to use! So yeah, why wouldn’t you use it and why wouldn’t you use it to learn Spanish?

Although I’m not going to give you guys some tips to learn Spanish with Twitter (this will be covered later), I do want to plug some of its users. There are a so many people out there that learn Spanish, use Twitter and share their experience with other users!

Do you know Spanish-lovers that aren’t on this list yet? Have them added by placing a comment; all you need to do it giving the link to their Twitter page. I’d also be nice if this page was tweeted and re-tweeted so that we end up with a large and complete list.

Hi, thanks for adding me. Anyone want to use a hashtag to communicate to interested parties? I suggest #learnspan but something shorter would be nice.

Hm, Tater Peel’s comment doesn’t seem to come through… He said this:

“Hi, thanks for adding me. Anyone want to use a hashtag to communicate to interested parties? I suggest #learnspan but something shorter would be nice.”

#learnspanish or #learnespanol (or español) would be nice. But you’re right, it’s a bit long if you think we only have 140 characters. So maybe #learnesp?

It came through :-) . Deactivated DISQUS for the moment, didn’t work all too well after all.

more hashtag ideas:
#aprenda
I like that one!

some ways to follow hashtags:
http://hashtags.org/
http://www.twitscoop.com/ – I think you have to remove the # to search for the tag on this site.

Do you know of any apps that use a push model for hashtags (i.e. send you a notification when somone uses a hashtag you are “following?”

BTW, I think the problem that I had with posting was because I was using firefox. I’ve only been able to post using IE. (argh!)

Ramses February 15, 2009 at 7:25 pm

I only use Firefox, so that’s not the problem.

I personally use TweetDeck, with which you can set filters to follow (this can be any word). Check it out: http://www.tweetdeck.com/beta/
