Watch miSexta.tv videos wherever you want

UPDATE (15th of July, 2009): According to the creator of the plugin, miSexta.tv changed the way it sends the shows over the internet. Therefore, it’s only possible to watch them directly and not to download them using a plugin. However, he’s working on it as we speak and I’ll write a follow-up post as soon as he has found a work-around.

I prefer to watch Spanish shows wherever I am, wherever I want. With DVD’s and such that’s no real problem as there’s software out there to rip is for me to put it on my PSP or iPhone. This way I’ve watched Supersalidos (Superbad) a dozen times and others shows as well. But I’d like to watch Sé lo que hicisteis and Buenafuena wherever I am as well.

laSexta is one of the major channels in Spain that puts its most popular shows online… for free. I’ve linked to them in the past because I think it’s a great service, but not everyone likes to sit behind the computer to watch something for 90 minutes or more. In my dorm, I connected my laptop with my TV so that I can watch it fullscreen from my lazy chair, but taking it with me to watch on my iPhone, PSP or even laptop (when I don’t have a connection) isn’t possible. Until recently.

Knowing that there’re a bunch of sites and software to download movies from sites like YouTube I thought that there must be something to do the same with with miSexta.tv. And there is! POLO over at BinWare.org made a plugin that enables you do download the HD videos from all miSexta.tv shows! It’s not hard to do, but I’ll explain it shortly.

Step 1: downloading and installing the plugin for FireFox 3.0
Simply click here and install the plugin. For that you need at least FireFox 3.0.

Step 2: Go to miSexta.tv and choose the show
Lets say I want to download the latest episode of Sé lo que hicisteis. I go to miSexta.tv, click on Sé lo que hicisteis from the bar at the bottom. Automatically I’m taken to the newest episode and click on:

Step 3: Skip to last part
You probably want to download all parts (mostly 3 or 4) in one go, so skip to the last part. Simply press to do this until you can’t click it again.

Step 4: Start downloading the videos
Now that you’ve ‘tracked’ all parts, you can start downloading them. In the right bottom corner there should be an icon like this:

Click on it and you’ll get a pop up like this:

The number before _qtp indicates the part number. Simply click each and every part, select where you want to save it and it starts downloading. When downloaded, you can transfer them to your HDD-player (if it supports mp4), burn it to DVD, covert it to another format, etc. ,etc. Happy watching!
